Partnering with the Women’s Community to Empower Survivors

County Ready Mix partners with the Women’s Community in Wausau, Wisconsin, to provide specialized services and resources to people in Central Wisconsin affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. The organization’s goal is to help individuals and families attain greater emotional and economic self-sufficiency. All services are free to those who need them and include shelter, food, clothing, counseling, advocacy, and support groups. The Women’s Community has been transforming lives and empowering communities to end violence and oppression for over forty years.

Funds from County Ready Mix contribute to the Women’s Community’s Emergency Shelter Services. The organization’s secure facility provides ten private sleeping rooms and shared living spaces. The shelter is supported by an on-site advocate at all times who helps residents navigate the services and resources available to them. The safety, security, and community offered by this shelter often empowers residents to pursue new employment, further education, and medical care as they take the next steps in rebuilding their lives.

County Ready Mix partners with local organizations through the Sonnentag American Foundation, emphasizing four key service areas: Hunger and Homelessness Support, Veteran and Service Member Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring and Skills Building.
